OK - so what is edna not?

edna is not a Google or Yahoo! style search engine. These use computer programs to automate finding data for their databases. Everything available through edna has been quality reviewed and described by an authorised information officer at either education.au or at an affiliated education organisation. Therefore you can be confident in the quality of your search results.

edna does not actually create or store education and training resources; it describes and points to where resources can be found – providing you with a single place to find them all.

I work in a specific education sector. Is edna relevant to me?

Yes. You can easily access news and resources specific to your education sector.

Resources are also categorised by topic – many of these cross all education and training sectors.

I just want to search. How can I do this with edna?

Perform a quick search in two steps:

  • Type your search term in the standard search box near the top right of any edna page.
  • Click 'GO' or press 'enter' on your keyboard.

More options include searching either just ‘edna’ or 'All' to search both edna and external repositories.

If the results aren’t quite what you want, you have two alternative ways to search - Advanced or Distributed.

Advanced search - scans metadata fields, e.g. title, subject, edna category. You have the option to search according to sector, and to specify national or international sites.

Distributed search - scans edna and all external, trusted, quality education and training repositories. You have the option to limit searches to specific repositories.
