New to podcasting?

The word podcasting is a combination of the words i-Pod and broadcasting and describes audio information that is available by subscription and can be listened to on a portable mp3 player.

To subscribe to a podcast, you need a podcast aggregator.  This software will regularly scan your subscriptions for new content and update you with the latest audio files.

Once your aggregator has found new episodes, you can then plug in your mp3 player (usually via a USB connection) and load the new content onto the player.  You can then listen to the podcast wherever and whenever you wish.

Need a podcast reader?

You can subscribe to a podcast using an RSS reader and your should do this if you like to read descriptions and see any photos that may be related to the podcast. You can either click on the link to the audio file to listen to it or right click on the audio file link to save it to a folder on your computer. This gives you more of an audio blog experience.

If, however, you are just after the audio and want it quickly and conveniently, a podcast reader is a must have.
